| Uploading Published
Files |
There are 3 uploading methods available
in A4Desk.
Method 1: A4Desk Built-in FTP wizard
- Set the default upload method to
"A4Desk Built-in FTP wizard"
on "Default FTP Settings".
- Click "Publish & FTP"
icon on the menu bar.
- After you have published your page
or site to a local folder, a popup box will appear
and start connecting to your FTP host. Please wait
until the status bar is fully loaded.

- You will see a message "Upload
Complete" on the popup box, with a URL of
your website for you to view your website online instantly.
If the URL is not correct, you can also change the
URL setting manually.

Method 2: Windows FTP
Please note this upload method requires
installation of Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x or 6.x.
- Set the default upload method to
"Windows FTP" on "Default FTP Settings".
- Click "Publish & FTP"
icon on the menu bar.
- After
you have published
your page or site to a local folder, A4Desk will
minimize and launch the FTP window automatically.
The FTP window (LEFT window) shows your web
server files. You should choose a folder to upload
your files, e.g. "public_html".
The A4Desk publish folder window (RIGHT window) shows your local published files.
- On
the A4Desk publish folder window (RIGHT window), select a4desk.swf by clicking on the filename, then
press CTRL-A to select all the files and the [import] folder.
- DRAG the selected files to the FTP window (LEFT
window). Or you can use standard COPY & PASTE commands.
Please ensure you have copied the [import] folder, and must place all files inside the [import] folder into web server's <import> sub-folder,
rather than place all files in the same web server
folder.
- After
you have uploaded all the files, you can open Internet
Explorer to view your files online.
Or you can go back A4Desk and edit the files again
by clicking the Return to A4Desk button on
A4Desk publish folder window (RIGHT window).
(An animated demonstration for the publish and
FTP function is available here: http://www.a4desk.com/help_video/publish_ftp.htm)
Method 3: External FTP software
If you have your own FTP client (e.g.
WSFTP, CuteFTP), please see "Using an HTML Editor".
